My local cigar store is getting out of the pipe biz, so I got about ane pound of various Cornell and Diehl tobacco at a good price... Costless!!! Most in good status every bit he kept it in sealed jars, simply some if very dry. How might I go almost bring this back to life? Is there any adept manner of adding dorsum the wet. I thought of using my cigar humidor, if information technology would not take months to recover. I'thou sure there's more and then one frugal pipe smoker here that has done this before.

This is a quick fix. Take half of the tobacco, spread out on cutting board, are counter tiptop. Accept a fine mist spray bottle with distilled h2o, spray over the tobacco letting mist fall and settle onto tobacco mix occasionally. When it's moist then have the other half and place all tobacco into big ziplock, milkshake well to mix together. Every now and once more shake again, permit sit down overnight. When I run into some overly dry tobacco, I usually put it into a Mason jar, leaving near an inch at the top, soak a paper towel in distilled water, squeeze out excess water, fold the towel in half three or 4 times, prop it up on the tobacco, and seal upward the jar. I leave it over nighttime and check it the side by side morning. Information technology'southward usually back to a proficient moisture content, then i remove and discard the towel and seal the jar dorsum up. Always utilise distilled water considering information technology has no contaminants to promote mold or fungal growth.

I accept used this method with no trouble for 20years. I have spent countless years in afghan and other desert enviroments and a lot of the time my bulk tobacco that I carry with me will get extra crispy before I make information technology dorsum to the states. Please annotation that I said QUICK FIX!! Besides this is pertaining to large amounts of tobacco. I'grand sure in that location are some better means if yous have plenty of time to spare, and time to sit around messing with your tobacco.

I don't know about re-hydrating and then much, but to keep my (typically, very dry) V Brothers in a nicer state of moisture, I'll usually just spritz a little distilled water on the lid of the mason jar I keep it in. This has washed wonders.
In regards to the paper towel idea, has anyone done this with Rye or Rum instead of water? Might impart a nice piddling taste to the tobacco.

i simply accept a paper towel become it moisture and squeeze just enough water out so its non dripping and fold it twice and place it on the mouth of the jar and spiral the lid on over it, then i let it sit over night check it in the morning if the moisture level isnt where i want it i repeat until im satisfied

I've no experience with this, and gratis advice is worth what you pay for it, but I'd be cautious about sealing the hat and then heating the jar. I think I'd leave the lid loose, fifty-fifty if heating it on low.
